Final Toille

Here is the overall outcome of my skeletal inspired Toille. I am really quite pleased with it now that it is finished . I want to also do a photoshoot with someone wearing it to see how it looks on a body. Back view clearly showing spine and rib cage detail. If I were to change anything about this toille I would maybe consider extending the length of the top so that it would look more like a shirt/dress.

Close up of the gathering used to represent the spine and rib cage inspiration. I used the sheer fabric for the gathering to create a contrast against the calico, which in my opinion I think it works really well.

Sweet heart neckline in the calico fabric then sheer at the top to contrast. The curves on the rib area works really well rather than been straight. This was rather time consuming as I had to accurately measure both sides in order to get it as symmetrical as possible.

All i need to attatch now is the buttons, which i already have so this shouldnt cause me much trouble. I really want to see what it would be like in other fabric rather than calico. I am quite determined to make it once i finish for the summer.

Skeletal portfolio page

To move on from my initial skeletal research I have now created my own moodboard to gain inspiration for design, so I now have about 6 skeletal inspired pages to design from which is good because hopefully I will now be able to design lots of nice interesting garments, whilst at the same time having lots of inspirational images in front of me.

elsa- skeleton dress

Even GaGa wears skeletal inspired clothing, this isnt much of a shock compared to some of the outrageous pieces she has worn most recently.

To gain more inspiration for my toille, and to create more innovative design ideas I looked at Elsa Schiaparelli and used these images to create some samples i then stuffed them to recreate something similar to these images.

Rib Cage

This case is amazing! ribcage suitcase!

The skeletal system is now my main source of inspiration for my research practices. I have been able to create a variety of designs that represents the ribcage through sheer fabric and diferent decoration techniques such as gathering, ruffles and rouching. I just hope it will look as good as i have in mind, we shall soon be able to tell.

Sarah Burton Makes Royal Fashion History!

Well yesterday most definately made fashion History as the world saw Kate Middleton marry Prince William in the most stunning dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander Mcqueen. Catherine looked so graceful and elegant, the dress was perfect for her! Simplicity at its best.

Such a gorgeous train, not too long like what Princess Dianas. I still cant get over how classy this dress is!

the hand embroidered and appliqued lace was absolutely stunning and the techniques and skills put into this dress is just extraordinary. The dress featured a victorian style corset that nipped in at the waist then out again with padded hips.

Kates make up was also very elegant and done to perfection, apparantly she did it all herself. Great natural make up skills Kate!

Rodarte- Skeletal

These images have given me inspiration for my toille that i will be designing and making within the next couple of weeks. My ideas have started to move away from pleats which is suprising as i have sampled quite a bit with them.
